Decent Fish

"Kurt, just wanted to drop you a line and send a picture of my son Zach's 50 incher caught on a Terminator T3 Blue Frog near Pike Creek July 7 2009. I always can count on your lures to produce a decent fish. I really wanted to make another order this year but due to our awesome Michigan economy and my finances I had to skip it. ( hopefully I'll hit next years order in time)"

Thanks Charlie, Zach booted MuskieBabe Lynn off the top of this page for a little while. That's a decent fish indeed. You didn't miss anything. Due due to our awesome Michigan economy and my finances I had to skip it too ha ha ha. Hopefully by this winter I can get back to making them.

Wimpin' Out

OK - I'll admit it. It's done for '08. My boat is covered by about 6" of snow and so is my local mini-fishing hole - Lake of the Pines. It's covered with snow because it's frozen solid. The forecast for the forseeable future calls for highs in the 20s and low 30s and not a warm front in sight. A few years ago I tried to fish under similar conditions. Lake St. Clair was still open water but the channel where the boat ramp is was frozen. However, the ice only looked about 3/4 inch thick. No problem, I can get through that I figured. So I carefully started to back my boat down into the ice. As expected a mere 3/4 inch thick layer of ice was no match for 3500 pounds of muskie boat and trailer getting pushed by a 4wd RocketJeep in low gear. That ice cracked and broke into large jagged chunks. Cool!!! I gave the RocketJeep more gas and more ice broke. Pretty soon I had powered that muther right down into the water and had a damn good start at breaking up the frozen channel too. Yeah baby, we're going fishin!!!!

We noticed the first sign of trouble when I pulled the trailer out. My license plate looked like a crumpled Rolling Rock can and the taillight lenses were reduced to two little fragments of plastic held in place by bent screws. The bulbs were just cold wet smashed sockets. Uh oh. Then I got in the boat and looked back over the transom. My transducers were smashed and dangling by their power cords. Well, one was dangling. The other one was completely gone. The prop for my kicker motor was missing a blade and the one on my main motor didn't look much better. Not only that, as I stood there staring at the carnage I felt the unmistakeable sensation of dual soakers. Apparently my drain plug was ripped out by the jagged chunks of ice and Slimetime was sinking! The only good part of the whole fubar mess was that we managed to get the trailer back under it and pull it out before it totally swamped. That's one mistake I won't make again!

So I'll admit to wimping out. No more fishing this year. I have officially thrown in the towel. The fat lady has sung. Prematurely yes, but at least I won't need to buy new taillights, transducers, and props and I'll get over missing the last few weeks of the season. If any of you are still at it, you have my best wishes and....

Archived 12/01/2008 Opening Day!
and Fish Wanted - Reward

First, the Opening Day. WTF???? Has the Rocketman got more retarded than usual? Well, maybe. But hey, better late than never. I finally got all those lures finished and all those "Lures Done" emails sent out (if you didn't get one let me know asap). Thank you very much; now I have enough cash in the Terminator™ Muskie Lures Testing and Evaluation Fund to put some gas in Slimetime and the RocketJeep and go testing and evaluating. It's a grim job but somebody has to do it. And this is the time of year to get serious anyways.

Speaking of serious, there are some rumors circulating about a sixty-inch muskie that has a fondness for Blue Wormy Terminator™ TXs. The operative word there is "has" because the aforementioned alleged large muskellunge only made it as far as the transom. I personally believe in Catch and Release but the Catch is supposed to come before the Release and the fisherman is supposed to do the Releasing, not the fish ha ha.

Now why would I mention such an obvious "One That Got Away" story? Three reasons:
1) The fisherman in question has good credibility.
2) He has a witness who also has good credibility.
3) It's the second totally unrelated report I have of the fish in the same general area within two weeks.

Where is the area? Sorry, I am sworn to secrecy other than to say Canadian waters of LSC. Besides, muskies are known to roam quite a bit anyhow.

How heavy would this supposed sixty-incher be? LSC fish tend to be on the skinny side compared to other fisheries so my guess is mid 40s to low 50s, maybe a little more late in the year. So now we get to the reward part. I believe this fish (as described or at least close) exists and I know it likes my lures. I want a picture of it right here on my web site, and I am willing to pay a good reward for that. How's about $1000?

Here is the deal. You catch this muskie (say 59" or 45lbs minimum) using one of my Terminators™. Weigh and measure it properly. Have someone else (your witness) take a clear picture of you holding it so there is no doubt of the fish's size and the fact it is still healthy. You release the fish and email me the picture (it becomes my property) and measurements and catch details and your witness' contact information. When it is confirmed to my satisfaction I'll send you your choice of either a check for $1000 or $1500 worth of Terminators™. This is 100% for real.

One last thing, don't bother trying to scam me. I know who has bought lures from me, I know what big muskies look like, and I know all about the capabilities of Photoshop.

Wow!!!!

You guys are kicking Muskie Booty!!!!! And you're doing a very good job posting Fishing Reports too. Here is a big "Thank You!" to all you fishing report posters and folks who sent me emails too.

Where are my own Fishing Reports? Yeah, yeah, I know I'm pitiful. Well, ya need to go fishing before ya can make one of those Fishing Reports. That's just the way it is. And I don't have a place on here for Excuses for Not Going Fishing Yet Reports. Too bad cause I got bunch of them.

One of the my most recent ones relates to my Evil Bitch Ex-Wife and my retiring from the lure business. Thanks to yet more of her BS those rumors of my retirement (that I started myself ha ha ha) are unfortunately a little premature. I should be out on the water right now in a NEW BOAT pulling Terminators™ and catching hogs - but nooooooooo, I'm down in the basement of the Terminator™ Muskie Lures World Headquarters making lure bodies again. Bitch.

That's good news for you guys who missed out when I was last open for business in January. I am going to have to do it again pretty soon hint hint hint. So stay tuned right here and.....

As usual, orders are taken on a first come, first serve basis. I am going to stay open until I get 300 lures on order and then that's it. I've been making Terminator™ lures for 10 years now and that's long enough. As long as things go OK, after this season I am planning on hanging up my airbrush. The other thing that's cool is that pic was taken in my boat Slimetime on Lake St. Clair. It's finally fixed and back to it's normal deadly self. It's about time!!!!! That pike was just the practice fish for my repaired boat and my kid. Now they are both ready to move up to bigger and badder things...

I just got the following email from a long-time customer and friend who lives in Canada

"Hey Buddie,
Thought I'd drop a line and let you know it's 2 rods next year. If you click on 05/06 regs it will pop up 2008 reg, 44 in and 2 rods per person angling from a boat. I think it is page 90.

Thanks Bill - YOU ROCK!!!! And yes, it IS actually finally true. Here is a quick link that confirms it.

Here is your last reminder that on January 1, 2008 at precisely 12:01am my Order Page is going to have an active link on it, and the link will stay active until I sell 300 lures - then that's all folks.

I've been making Terminator™ lures for 10 years now and that's long enough. After this batch I am planning on hanging up my airbrush. Besides the usual T2, T3, ST3, and TX models there is going to be something new (and deadly - trust me, I've been running them for years) available, and I will also have a limited production hand-signed collectible 10-Year Anniversary Edition. Details will be on the Order Page.

Well, the boat ramp is frozen solid. The water in my gas tank is frozen solid. My boat tires are frozen solid to the ground. The forecast doesn't call for any heat waves in the forseeable Saturdays (where the hell is global warming when you need it?) and I am out of vacation days. And it looks like she is singing. so sad

Now what to do? I know - I'll make some lures (surprise)! Actually that's not a surprise because my Order Page says I am gonna do that. First I am going to make some for myself, and then I am going to make some for you guys - starting January 1, 2008. See you then and...

Damn!
(and Terminator™ Lures status)

OK - This sucks. Just when all those giant muskies are getting caught the RocketBoat Slimetime's lower unit bit the big one - and it's still not repaired. According to the Merc dealer in Brighton who will remain nameless the parts are on backorder. And once again, those damn rabbits made a nest under my boat.

Maybe I can't go fishing but at least I can make lures. For all you guys with orders due this month, they are coming along good. All the bodies are machined and I have half of them painted. Hopefully I'll be finished painting by Sunday, September 22. If you don't get a "Lure Done" email by Monday the 23rd then let me know.

I was hoping to retire from the musky lure manufacturing business but I can't 'cause this blown up lower unit is going to wipe out my slush fund. So for all you guys who missed it when I opened up, here is official notice that I'll do it again on Jan 1, 2008.

I just got this from a guest of this site...

"Hey Rocket, I dont have a report for you but I was wondering if you have ever read this article about Art Lawtons fish. I grew up a mile from him and this fish did exist whether people believe it or not. Everyone over the age of 60 remembers it cause he kept it in a freezer for quite a while to show it off. Any way read it, you should find it very interesting.
About Art Lawton's World Record
Good luck fishing, Brian"
(HERE is a pic of Lawton's 69/15 Muskellunge)

And some more world record holders are listed below. Most are also in various stages of disputedness.

They may be old pics. They may be disputed records. But no matter what they are definitely all awe inspiring for sure! Thanks Brian.

Over the last few days I finally got around to uploading a bunch of new old Guest Photos. No, I wasn't just lazy. Well, laziness was part of it. I have other halfway good excuses too but the biggest hold-up was file sizes. My old Win95 computer on dial-up (honest ha ha!!!!) wasn't doing too good with 3MB email attachments so I was saving all the emails in a folder pending an upgrade. The folder got too big so I bit the bullet and did it anyhow. There's lots more big fish in there now, and if you sent a picture chances are it's there too. The muskie season is finally here! MuskieBabe Lynn is back in her rightful place!!! If your going out for the opener then I have a hint for you. Keep your eye on your temperature gage and look for some water that is a little warmer than the rest. It would be even better if that water was about 8-9 feet deep, kind of between a big shallow weedy area and some deeper, colder big water. Maybe a little structure might help, some minimal weedgrowth, some baitfish on the screen, and you were pulling something tasty (hint, hint, Terminator™ T3 Pukebait) and following the contour lines. You just might to replace Lynn with your own picture!

Terminator™ Lures Update

Feel like going fishing? Me too. But I can't 'cause I am making lures instead. Well actually last weekend I did take my Rocketkid down to the neighborhood pond for some bluegill fishing. She was reeling in a dinky one and this Northern took a lunge at it and freaked her all out. Maybe I should develop a bluegill pattern Terminator™...

Anyhow, when I am not getting outfished 22 to 7 by a 16 year old girl I have been diligently painting away. I have sent out a bunch of "Lure Done" notices already and next week I will be sending out more. I expect to have 12 more orders painted this weekend and all of them done by around May 20. I plan on making about 400 lures this spring and as of yesterday all orders placed have been confirmed and I am close to but not quite sold out. If you order ASAP you can still get whatever you want and at the same old prices I've been charging for the last four years.

It's getting so bad I had to start returning my Rolling Rock empties just so I can afford to get a lap dance or two. Whine, whine, poor me!!!!!
