6/26/2005 First offical trip on my own boat. Yes after 5 long years the "Promise Kept" made its first official trip chasing Musky's. Went 2/3.Started fishing off the Hiram Walker Tower trolling east towrds Bell River. Water was clear with mayfly's all over the place. First fish at 6:20.Reverse Crackle Believer With A Chrome Head on a downrod was the first.1 pound 15 feet.35 incher went back unscathed .Yes them old Believers still work. Second fish hit on the board on an Izumi Kermit Special. 4 oz 40 ft. Never saw it. It made its run and then it was gone. Third fish was also on a downrod 1 lb 20 ft. It hit a Kermit Special painted in JT special.. Custom color developed over 15 years ago by my father. Great way to pop the cherry on the "Promise Kept". The gents I took fishing never had seen a musky up close so it was a treat for them as well. 2 of the 3 fish were deep and all fish were hooked between 13 and 16ft of water. John Tomlin

Fished Saturday, June 18 from 10 AM to 7 PM around the Dumps, Ridges and Grosse Point Marina and went 0 for 0! Weather was overcast all day with 1 to 2 footers, water temp was 62 to 66 degrees. We fished perch YB and tiger fire colors on planer boards and downriggers in 17 to 11 foot of water. This was our first trip up to St. Clair. Saw a few other boats fishing for muskie, but did not see anyone else fighting or landing anything. Maybe we should have fished the north end of the Lake......

6/9/05 Six small pike, a Dogfish, a smallie, a rock bass in the afternoon in front of the Marina by the Tower and finally a 37 incher. 50-100 yards offshore on Fire Tiger Muskie specials and the Muskie came on a Terminator T-3 in Titty dancer pattern. Love the color pattern but the muskie removed her lip. Coming back next month. Nice to be able to fish two rods on the Michigan side. Chuck Skopelja fishing with brother Ronnie out of the Red Rover.

Went out of Basshaven this sunday 06/12/2005, started trolling in about 8 feet of water immediately had a 30 inch musky slam my nine dollar bass believer. Released her got going again and bang, another musky not 3 minutes later, 42 inch. Keep trolling, had a fish hit, then was off again really quick. Picked up a 36 inch pike about 10 minutes later. That was pretty much it for the rest of the day. One more little pike about 24 inches. All fish were caught in 8-10 feet of water between Mitchell's Bay water tower and the Pencil Bouy(Xe4?)

6/11/05 Fished between Metro and 9 Mile Tower on Saturday. Water temp was 71-72 degrees with a slight blue/green tint. Went 3 for 3 from 8:00 AM till noon. First fish was a 44 incher that took a green scale Stalker 25/4 on a board. Then a 42 incher hit on a St. Lawrence Loke 65/0. And finally a 35 incher took a green scale believer 10/12 in the prop wash. All fish appeared healthy, and were released sucessfully. Not a bad way to start the season.

06/08/05 This is my first time writing to report a "muskie" day on Lake St Clair. We fished from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm with one fished boated at about 10 pounds and one fish lost. The fish came from Anchor Bay about 1/2 mile south east of the Salt River on a 7 inch green Bomber with a white belly in 7 feet of water at 4:40 pm. Our trolling speed was 3.5 to 4.0 knots, not miles per hour. We were not using any sinkers or down riggers, just trolling with the natural weight of the lure. The weather was hot and sunny at about 90 degrees, but with the wind out of the south at 5-10 mph it was bearable. What a great day to be on the water reeling in "mean green". Dave Cook

HAWG heaven Saturday- 13 for 14 with 6 over 46 inches. Two were over 50 and 3 bonus Eyes - 27 inches to 28 inches. Water was 65 degrees and cloudy Blue. No real ryhme or reasons. Caught fish in 10 ft - 16ft, One 50 on a boat rod 8 & 8- the rest of the fish on boards. 20 & 2, 30 & 0, and 25 & 4. Quite a few on sliders which reminds me of another fish story . Perch, sucker, bass, olive frog, coachdog, pretty baby, Kenny carp, Red Head, and St lawrence. Sunday we had to go for a heavy fish ended up 3 for 3 with a 43 incher being the biggest. Trolled Anchor Bay on Sunday 6/5. Water was fairly clear, green/blue tint, no weeds. Temp was 67. Fished from 1pm till 7pm, went 0 for 0. Did see two cigarette boats almost collide on the way back in. At the docks one guy from the "yellow" boat said that they were "going 90 and still drinking a beer".

Well opening day was a zero for zero with a bonus 6lb walleye. Fished from 9 mile to Huron Point. Washed a lot of wood in the 5 hours. Fished the same area on Sunday and was 2 for 2. Both came on board rod 30/2. Both fish were huge - one was 28 and the second was over 32. Both fish were in great shape. Both came on the same lure as the walleye, a black bar perch. Lots of boats in this area on Saturday and heard a lot of zeros for the day. Best report that I heard was a 5 for 8, with most being small.

Made it out Sunday June 5th. Fished 7:00 to 11:00 trolling the banks of northern LSC channels. Usually this area is slow until warmer water grows the weedbeds for the savages hide in to ambush prey. Well along comes Scale and Krull pulling a T3 Red Tiger 35/0 not paying any attention, and making predictions as to how many more weeks it will take before it turns on, when Whamo!! An obese 48 inch savage decided she had seen enough. She thought she was tarpon for awile with a series of succesive jumps, then we scooped her in the boat, a pic or two, and away she went. That was the only fish of the day, but I couldn't be happier on opening weekend. Good Luck Dudes ... ITS ON!!!

Started out in front of belle maer 10 foot of water at 7:30a.m. 6/4/05 Hooked the first fish at 7:45a.m. on a 9$bass 30/4 a 5# 27" muskie kept working the same area playing with speed and weight. At 8:15a.m. a nice 34 incher took one on the fag frog in the wash 3.5 mph hammered it. Heard reports of a lot of fish being caught so after an hour or so of nothing we moved to the 400 club. We should have stayed where we were by the time we got there there must have been 500 or more boats out there! had one rip on a blue/silver wiley's 30/5 Moved back to the original spot we started had one other rip but nothing. I hope the rocket man did better than we did. By the way rocket man there was a guy on the radio who said he caught a 56" 52# mammouth just wondering if you heard anything?

Went out for the opener. We went one for one, 39" 14lbs on a drifter muskie stalker hot walley pattern. Caught him about half way between Metro Beach and St. Clair Shore in 13ft of water on a downrigger 2' off the bottom. My wife on her maiden voyage to St. Clair was the lucky angler. I had to laugh when she said "Oh I've got slime and blood all over my shoes".

Went pike fishing on 5/17 PM on Lake Minnetonka east of Minneapolis. Conditions were intermitent rain with airtemp around 68F. Drfting from 8' water out to 20' and trolling back. These spots are known to harbor 'skies in the summer. I put on some really big baits hoping to catch some really big northern. The 'skie season opens in June, but pike are open now. While we got no hits, we got three follows from muskies, one that stopped my heart. Two in the low 40's (and we did catch some 40's last year on LSC, so these are good estimates)followed in bucktails (Mepps Giant Killer w/ white skirt and a 1 oz Big Kahuna w/ black and white skirt and silver blade). What followed in a large Daredevil, five of diamonds pattern, was a fish in the mid 50's. Our biggest last year was 48" and this fish was clearly a class above that one. The figure eight, vertical jigging and, later, speed trolling a blue helin frog TX did not raise this fish again. One odd thing, these fish were raised within 100 yards of one another on a quarter mile dropoff between two points. We saw nothing else along the shelf. For the veterans, will this big girl hold near this area all year? there is 60' water within a quarter mile. I know of no one getting a fish over 40" from this break in the summer. Should I just pound this spot until she gives up and strikes? (Only after the season opens, of course. Until then, we just fish for big pike.) Russ

May 1 heading for the Two Hart when we came across a guy smelt dipping and had 2 1/2 gal.s of silver in his bucket. Them we came across a black bear about 175# 30' from the car. He stood on his back feet for the picture then crossed the road in front of the car. There was very little action in the river but boats were taking Coho, Kings and Steelhead just of the mouth and along the shore twards Pendelton creek. I'm looking forward for the opener up hear on the 15th. Have a great day.

Went with my son to a little pond between ryan RD and dequinder on 18 mile RD. This pond has a lot of Big bass and other types of pan fish in it .I know this is a muskie web site, which we do a lot of in the summer months, but he was so excited he wanted to tell everyone. He is only 5 years old,but he caught a 8lb carp which he landed all by his self. Come summer, We are mainly Muskie fisherman true and true. He landed this one on a croppie pole with 4lb test on it.For a 5 year old I thought this was quite a feat.We can,t wait for the muskie opener this year.

If anyone gets the urge to fish we have open water at Kinkaid. Here in the balmy south it is 25 at 9:34 A.M.! Fishing has been slow. Muskies are deep at 25ft. or deeper. Jigging Fuzzys has taken some. I did not make it out this week, but next week I will get out and drop the cannon balls. Find the shad and work them. Chad Cain is a good guide if you need one. Yeh, the scooter is still in pieces in the kitchen. The Musky cat has been getting into my chrome acorn nuts and playing with them. I told him that had I known he liked chrome nuts, I would have saved his when I had him nutted and had them chromed! Fish on, Wayne. Later
