Went trolling for Musky on 8/21. Trolled the Red Barn area(who isnt lately?) Water was green in color with a few weed. The wind was howling out of the west so it made letting out the boards rather dicey. One of the disadvantges of having your planner reel on the bow pulpit. Went 2/2 both fish came of board rods. One on a slidder and the other on a regular board rod set up. Both fish were caught on Musky Magnets and both fish were around 36inches and went back healthy to be caught again. Catch a hawg and let her go. John

Went out Aug. 6/7. Waves moderate with clear/lightly overcast skies both days. First day went 2/3 trolling in 15 to 16 fow using downriggers. 2 walleyes 3 and 5 pounds on a yb dark frog terminator T3. Kept one for the grill. Second day went 1/5 with one 40 inch jumper in 15 fow. Frustrating to lose 4 out of 5 fish especially because all hooks were razor sharp. ?? Any advice?

Hey!!! I can still catch a musky.I was begining to think I had forgotten how too. Fished saturday august 6th and sunday august 7th. Saturday evening my Musky Goddess and I went 1 for 1. We fished from the Red barn to the Hump in 13 to 15 feet of water. The fish was 38 inches long and came on a Chrome Headed Rainbow Swim Whizz off the board at dark. The fish went back healthy and was none for the worse. Sunday was a different story. Went 0 for 0 and fished from the Hump towards the Black forrest area. Water was green with some yellowish algea on it.Marked a few out in front of Stoney Pointe but couldnt get them going.

Back to LSC from 9 days in LOWs. LOWs treated us well but not overly well. 20 muskies all casting between my buddy and myself. The largest was 46+ inches on a topwater in some slop. We probably had 10-15 over 45 inches to the boat, 5- 50 inches or better and two of those were real big fish ( over 40 lbs) . We couldnt get the big girls to eat !!! I guess that is what keeps you going back. What a lake but a 17 + hour drive as well !! Catch and release.

We also fished the southern shore of Lake St. Clair Friday afternoon - Sunday morning and also generally in front of the Ruscom River 16 - 19 FOW. The trip started off very well with a 50 inch 30 pounder within the first hour, but we ended up 2 for 4 on Friday in about 5 hours. The seccond fish was 42. Both were taken on a perch Cisco Kid. Saturday we fished the morning and evening in the same location and were again 2 for 4, with both fish in the low 40's and taken on white perch Woody's. Sunday morning started off very quickly with 2 for 3 by 8:30. The thunderstorms then blew us off the lake and we had to call it for the day and return home. It was pretty clear that Sundaty was the day that the fish were "on the feed." Unlike Grim Reaper's report, we generally heard that everyone was having a fairly hard time on Friday and Saturday. We did not hear of anyone catching more than 3 on Friday or Saturday. The water temp was 80 during the day and, in some spots, almost 82. I'm sure there were a lot of very hot and miserable muskies sitting on the bottom sulking about the lake conditions. Good luck to all.

We fished a total of 23 hours from friday at 3 pm to sunday at 1 pm. Weather was steamy and water was hot, around 82. We fished mainly off the ruscom and stoney pointe in 16-18 feet of water. Water was clear and floating weeds were moderate. Winds ranged mainly from SE to SW. Overall we were 8 for 12 which was pretty disappointing as other boats were doing better. We went 2 for 2 friday night with a 44 and a 41. These were on a helin frog jointed lure on a planer board, not sure the type. Then we were 1 for 2 saturday, both hits coming right before a storm chased us off for 2 hours around 1 pm. Fish was 38 inches and on a Blue Frog TX on a planer board, 4 oz., 30 feet back. Then after the storm we did better on numbers but no size, going 5 for 6 with a 37, 36, 35, 33 and a 29. All on the planer boards again. One on a Blue Frog TX set up as above, one on Green Frog Stalker on a planer board slider, two on a the funny jointed lure and the other I dont recall. Sunday morning we went 0 for 2 with both hitting a big black/perch loke on a down rod. One fish was nice size, around 45 inches, other looked to be in the 36-38 inch range.

Well what can I say? Went fishing two days in a row and zip, zilch, nada. First time was saturday the 16th. Got a late start due to work. Started fishing at the C marker fished there for an hour and then started the trip towards the midlake area. Water was silty to clear in spots. Thru everything but the kitchen sink at them. Bruno pikes,Musky magnets,Wileys,Terminators,Ivanhoe Spoons,Belivers even some origninal 9 dollar bass(gold and chrome headed). Nothing enticed them.Did get some excitement when the lures went through a major weed patch. Sunday the 17th wasnt any better. Had to stick to the American side due to the fact there was one Canadian fishing License on board. Started fishing infront of the Cresent sail club and trolled all the way up to 10 mile road and the same thing. The fish must not like me anymore. Water was a little weedy but clear out deep. Fished the edge of the Shipping Channel and back. I guess the fish had lock jaw in the areas I trolled but thats why they call it fishing instead of catching. Mind you I am fishing areas that I never fished that much when I was younger. Hang a big one. John

7/5/05 Went out from 6:30 till 9:30 Tuesday morning. It was overcast and rainy but we still managed to go 2 for 2 in front if the 400 club. First fish was a MONSTER 50 incher that had to go 30+ lbs. second fish was no slouch either at about 44in. Both fish came 6ft/16oz in the propwash on a light camo frog believer. Both fish were healthy and let go to fight another day. Maybe I'll have a replica made since it was my biggest muskie to date.

7/3/05 Hot and humid with lots of boat traffic. Managed to go 3 for 5 though. Started at the dumps and headed north. Missed the first 2 rips by GPYC. One on hot walleye and one on $9 bass believers. Our next 2 came straight out from 9 mile tower on a bass believer 25/2. (41 & 24 inchers) Then a fat 38 incher came 6ft/16oz in the propwash on a light camo frog believer. Slow start but finished OK. By the way if anyone has any Terminators for sale drop me an e-mail. Thanks!

6/30/05--Took my youngest daughter muskie fishing, she is eight. We fished for 3 hours in front of the Puce River. The depth was 15 feet, water temp was 75-76 and the color was fairly clear green. We went 3 for 3 all on board rods 2oz / 20 ft. The first 2 came on a TN Shad 6" Jake. They were both 43" long and one was 17 lbs the other 19 lbs. The 3rd fish was 45" 21 lbs and was caught on a WB Perch 6" Jake. The lake was calm maybe a half foot chop. We could not get anything going with larger baits (T3s, Depth Raiders, Wileys, etc.) so we downsized to the 6" baits and it worked. Take care and stay safe. Hillbilly

the Rocketman

How did your hero, the Rocketman, do today?
Went fishing on Saturday, July 2 from 4:00pm until 9:15pm. Fished Lake St. Clair, south shore with John and Bruce. Went 1 for 3 or 4. Perfect conditions - air temperature about 80F, water temp 75F, mostly sunny with winds variable 5-10, waves 1 foot, water fairly clear, greenish color, few weeds, no bugs (till dark when we got hexed).

After some serious boat driving we finally found fish. There was lots of bait and lots of big fish on the graph. At least two of those big fish were confirmed muskies 'cause I saw one swimming along on top and the other one got boated.

Bruce got the only fish, a 12 pounder (bocagrip weight) that hit a Terminator T3 "Candy Cane" running 30/2 on a longrod. It jumped, fought hard, and generally made the most of it's size. The other confirmed hits were on a T3 Blueboy 20/2 on a board, T3 "Osprey" 30/2 on a board and possibly a T3 WB Perch Mackerel on a slider. I surmise that the fish were shut down due to the cold front that came thru Friday. I further speculate that the bizarre selection of colors that got hit indicates a neutral to negative feeding mood and the strikes were triggered by the lure that just happened to be passing within centimeters of the muskies' nose. My buddy John (who invented the Candy Cane and Osprey paint jobs and painted the lures in questions himself) feels the hits were triggered by the awesomeness of his paintwork. I pointed out that the Blueboy was a Terminator Lure Factory reject with defective paint due to a mosquito landing on it at a bad time and the paintwork on that lure was decidedly unawesome.

At about 7:30pm we were listening to Live 8 on the radio and Pink Floyd came on. That was the first time the original band members have all played together in 24 years. We had rods out, we were marking fish big time, the weather was warm, the brews were cold, there were no little green men in sight, Pink Floyd was rockin' and damn life was good!!!!

No lure pattern except everything was on board rod with NO wieght. Hope to get there tomorrow again. Speedtroll
